Short Description:

This role seeks a data expert with a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in data engineering or BI. Proficiency in SQL, programming languages, and relational databases is key. The team handles YouTube's go-to-market strategy, fostering growth, analytics, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include architecting data infrastructure, ETL pipeline development, and ensuring data reliability for informed decision-making. This Bangalore-based position requires collaboration with analysts, advocating best practices, and maintaining data integrity across the YouTube Business Organization.


 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering or business intelligence roles.
  • Proficiency in relational databases, encompassing SQL queries, database design, and schema development.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math).
  • Experience with data warehouses, distributed data platforms, and data lakes.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional structured thinking skills, capable of dissecting complex, multidimensional issues.
  • Outstanding business and technical communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

About the Role:

The YouTube Business Strategy and Operations team is responsible for overseeing all go-to-market functions within the YouTube Business Organization. This encompasses strategy and business operations, analytics and data science, partnership enablement, and product activation. The team plays a pivotal role in shaping go-to-market priorities to expedite growth, allocating resources effectively, enhancing skills and capabilities to facilitate the execution of business objectives, streamlining business operations for maximum efficiency, and establishing robust go-to-market infrastructure, including data, reports, and dashboards. This multidisciplinary team combines strategic thinking, operational expertise, and creative problem-solving abilities to drive transformative change across a global organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate requirements gathering and project scoping sessions with subject matter experts, business users, and executive stakeholders to ascertain and delineate business data prerequisites.
  • Architect, create, and optimize the data infrastructure and develop Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to ensure accessibility for Business Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and business users, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with analysts to standardize and expand value-adding capabilities, encompassing data integrations, transformations, model features, and statistical and machine learning models.
  • Uphold the highest standards of data reliability, integrity, and governance, ensuring the availability of accurate, consistent, and credible datasets, business intelligence products, and analyses.
  • Engage with the analyst community, liaise with analysts to comprehend pivotal user journeys and identify inefficiencies in data sourcing, advocate for best practices, and provide guidance through analyst training sessions.
