Team Summary:
Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is Visa's consulting division, dedicated to serving Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants. VCA focuses on addressing strategic challenges related to improving performance and profitability. Leveraging expertise in strategy consulting, payments, data analytics, marketing, operations, and macroeconomics, VCA delivers high-impact, financially tangible results.
The Data Scientist will be part of the VCA Data Science geographic team cluster for India and South Asia (INSA) markets. The role involves supporting data science initiatives with Visa's clients. The team provides a wide range of consulting services and data-driven solutions, addressing unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management, digital strategy, and portfolio management.
What a Data Scientist, Visa Consulting & Analytics does at Visa:
As a member of the VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific, you will report to the Senior Manager in the INSA cluster and be based in Visa's Mumbai office. In this role, you will support the development and implementation of analytics-driven strategies, providing high-impact solutions for Visa's clients. Your responsibilities include bringing prior experience in data science, modeling, and data-driven insights to solve complex problems and unlock business value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and delivering data science initiatives for India and South Asia clients using multiple data sources.
- Developing strategic benchmarking dashboards in Tableau for top banks and fintechs in the India and South Asia market to assist in portfolio management and optimization.
- Storyboarding and deriving insights from the dashboards while identifying any market gaps.
- Effectively communicating findings, recommendations, and data-driven insights to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensuring consistency, standards, and quality control of deliverables, with up-to-date coding and project documentation.
- Optimizing and automating benchmarking dashboards through collaboration with Hub teams, Data engineering teams, and IT.
- Managing time effectively across multiple reports/projects and ensuring timely delivery to clients while maintaining accuracy.
- Communicating with clients to understand business requirements and perform end-to-end scoping for project deliverables.
- Assisting in pitching benchmarking dashboards to various clients and resolving queries promptly.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation by utilizing Visa data, client data, and non-traditional data to address the specific needs of clients.

Qualifications
What you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree (a Master's degree is an advantage) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in data-based quantitative analysis or predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in extracting and aggregating data from large data sets using SQL, Hive, Spark, or other data extraction tools.
- Proficiency with Tableau, Hive, SQL, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Hands-on experience and proficiency in designing and building dashboards independently using Tableau.
- Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to solve business problems with data.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
- Willingness to travel 20% or more.

- Exposure or prior work experience in the payments and/or banking industry.
- Strong skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
