About the Team
As a Senior Data Engineer on the MLS Ingest & Data Quality Team, your role revolves around designing and developing robust platforms, services, and tools to address challenges associated with processing, managing, and utilizing streaming MLS and public record information. MLS data is a foundational component for Opendoor's real estate technology business, covering areas such as buyer-seller interactions and resale processes.
Currently, you will be managing the real-time ingestion of over 300 data feeds, serving both internal users and Opendoor customers. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data as it traverses from the source to the end-users, ensuring the highest quality for both our organization and valued customers. To accomplish this, you will utilize a diverse set of tools, including Python, SQL, and a range of internal tools and services designed to support your mission.

Role Responsibilities:
- Building products and services from the ground up, as well as evolving existing systems to support Data Quality initiatives.
- Developing tools to address the unique challenges of data management at Opendoor.
- Utilizing your technical and quantitative expertise to guide the team in making intelligent, scalable, and practical design decisions.
- Influencing the technology and architectural roadmap of the engineering teams.
- Developing a deep domain expertise in data management and real estate.
Skills Needed:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Over 6 years of experience in building production data systems. Strong programming skills, with a preference for Python, and a solid foundation in computer science.
- Proficiency in SQL and Databases.
- Full-stack web development fluency (e.g., React, API design, Rails, Postgres).
- Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to drive decision-making.
- A track record of independently leading cross-functional projects and prioritizing work based on business impact.
- The ability to understand stakeholder needs, define business requirements, and architect systems that will scale and adapt over time.
- Expertise in breaking down complex problems, documenting solutions, and sequencing work for iterative improvements.
- A sense of ownership and a passion for customer satisfaction through innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with workflow management tools like Airflow or dbt.
This position can be located in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Chennai. We are open to considering candidates for relocation.
