Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Associate Data Scientist to join our team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will play a crucial part in addressing business challenges by exploring cutting-edge models and crafting machine learning and deep learning solutions. Leveraging your expertise in machine learning tools and algorithms, you will collaborate with a forward-thinking team to develop innovative systems, working closely with product owners, data engineers, and software engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong affinity for data, machine learning, and software development, with a focus on understanding data dynamics within large and intricate organizations.
Job Responsibilities
- Create state-of-the-art machine learning models to tackle real-world issues, applying them to areas such as natural language processing (NLP), personalization, and recommendation systems.
- Collaborate with business, operational, and technical teams to comprehend AI requirements and devise potential solutions.
- Establish both batch and real-time model prediction pipelines, integrating them with existing applications and frontend interfaces.
- Collaborate on extensive data modeling experiments and effectively communicate complex concepts to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with various cross-functional teams, including Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management, to implement solutions in production.
- Collaborate with product owners and software engineers to operationalize the models.
- Work closely with business partners to identify high-impact projects, influence decisions using data, and ensure client satisfaction.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Strong background in natural language processing (NLP), generative AI, and hands-on experience in machine learning and deep learning techniques, including familiarity with large language models.
- Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning toolkits, such as Transformers, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, and Pandas.
- Ability to design experiments and training frameworks, and assess both intrinsic and extrinsic metrics to align model performance with business objectives.
- Experience in building and deploying machine learning models on AWS, particularly utilizing AWS tools like Sagemaker, EC2, Glue, and more.
- Self-driven and capable of completing tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematical Sciences, or Machine Learning, with a solid foundation in mathematics and statistics.
- 3-4 years of experience in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, C/C++, with a preference for Python. Additionally, 2-3 years of experience applying data science and machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
- Familiarity with A/B experimentation and data-driven product development, including the ability to develop and debug production-quality code.
- Published research in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Reinforcement Learning in a major conference or journal.
- Knowledge of continuous integration models and expertise in unit test development, as well as experience with large language models and prompt engineering techniques.
