The Analytics team plays a central role at Chegg, utilizing data and analyses to support all business lines, as well as marketing and product organizations. The Role: Data Scientist
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to contribute to understanding and predicting business performance. This role involves supporting the scoping, launch, and measurement of the impact of product initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional data mining, analytical, and visualization skills, along with effective communication abilities. The role requires collaboration with analysts, the business community, and proficiency in creating and maintaining ETL workflows for key dashboards.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in different time zones for efficient communication and coordination of project deliverables.
- Analyze complex data sets using advanced tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights for strategic decision-making.
- Conduct thorough research to gain insights into market dynamics, competitive landscapes, customer behavior, and industry trends.
- Proactively identify opportunities to optimize processes, minimize risks, and drive continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends to enhance analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define key performance metrics, track progress, and present insights and recommendations for business growth.
- Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery while managing competing priorities.
- Work with Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams to align data solutions with Analytics requirements.
- Build and automate dashboards and data visualizations to provide insights into business performance.
- Build analytical models to support business cases.
- Partner with business and product analysts to understand needs for insights and analytics.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Business/Marketing/IT/Statistics, specializing in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or related fields.
- Available for a Hybrid work arrangement.
- 3+ years of experience in data visualization, analysis, and extracting meaningful insights into business performance.
- Experience in on/offshore development models.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand complex business situations, market trends, and customer behavior.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Advanced SQL, Python, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with databases such as Redshift, Postgres, Oracle, Teradata, MySQL, etc.
- Experience with web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) is a plus.
- Experience in a data lakehouse environment and cloud environments (AWS, GCP) is a plus.
