As an Engineering Manager overseeing the Strategic Initiative team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical architecture, product, team dynamics, and overall culture. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your technical expertise for leading significant projects and managing a team of skilled engineers, contributing to meaningful business outcomes. Your responsibilities extend beyond optimizing code to ensuring your team's efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to product strategy development and guide your team's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive product implementation from concept to delivery, including project planning, leading architectural discussions, crafting high-quality documentation and architecture diagrams, and overseeing end-to-end execution.
- Establish and uphold development practices, processes, and standards for your team.
- Take ownership of technical architecture, guide engineering design, and make critical decisions.
- Prioritize and deliver feature roadmaps while addressing technical debt.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, developers, and QA.
- Communicate team progress and foster a positive team perception.
- Collaborate with the Support team to monitor and address technical issues through resolution.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition for team recruitment, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing.
- Enhance team productivity through technology, process, and continuous delivery investments.
- Foster team morale, address critical challenges, and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage team members' careers, provide regular and timely feedback, and represent the team in annual reviews.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least one year actively managing a high-performing engineering team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high ambiguity.
- Strong database knowledge and data modeling skills, coupled with leadership abilities to mentor teams.
- Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems.
- Effective management skills for overseeing multi-engineer projects and delivering projects on time.
- Proficiency in computer science fundamentals and at least one interpreted language (PHP/Python/RoR).
- Background in software development within a commercial product environment.
- Experience with global customers, agile processes, and Serverless Architecture is a plus.
