Role Overview:

We are seeking an entry-level data scientist with a passion for data and analytics, capable of diving deep into details while understanding the broader picture. Success in this role requires a profound understanding of modeling techniques, teamwork, and individual proficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience extracting insights from extensive datasets and effectively communicating relevant triggers and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

• Implement solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques.
• Continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies.
• Possess strong modeling skills, comfortable owning data, and capable of working from concept through to execution.
• Analyze business problems, assess available data, and identify suitable analytics and modeling techniques to answer key questions.

Note: This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and employment visa sponsorships, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be granted. This role is with United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years of experience in modeling/machine learning.
• Proficient in R or Python.
• Comfort with manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources.
• Knowledge of predictive and machine learning techniques (e.g., logistic regression, random forest, GBM, Neural Nets, SVM).
• Proficiency in database querying tools, including Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL.
• Hands-on experience with Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop/Spark), API Gateways, and non-structured data is a plus.
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis and algorithms clearly.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• About 4-6 weeks of travel to the US annually.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship.

Preferred:

• Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Math, Statistics, Operations Research, MBA).
