Who We Are Seeking
AirFi is in search of a seasoned Linux Kernel System Engineer proficient in Buildroot, Yocto, and openWRT for a remote position. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in shell scripting, demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills, exhibit leadership qualities, and boast excellent communication skills. Additionally, familiarity with hardware and the ability to interpret hardware schematics are essential.
As a remote position, candidates are expected to have a reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet workspace, and the ability to work within the time zones overlapping with the company teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Linux kernel for embedded systems
- Customize Linux kernel to meet specific project requirements
- Utilize Buildroot, Yocto, and openWRT for creating custom Linux distributions
- Implement shell scripting and automate Linux kernel build and test processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features
- Work closely with hardware engineers to address hardware-specific issues
- May involve international travel
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot routing protocols (e.g., BGP/OSPF), VPN, IPv4/IPv6, and Firewall
- Evaluate or review queries for data extraction, create standard procedures, and perform limited programming to fine-tune supported systems
- Perform complex migrations, upgrades, installations, and configurations
- Make decisions on security and regulatory policies to design and implement secure network solutions
What We Look For
- 2-8 years of experience in C/C++ and multithreading programming
- Experience with OpenWRT, Buildroot, or Yocto
- Strong background in Linux kernel development and maintenance
- Proficiency in shell scripting
- Familiarity with hardware schematics
- Experience in routing protocols such as BGP/OSPF, VPN, IPv4/IPv6, and Firewall
