At the heart of this transformation lies the Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team, dedicated to enhancing various aspects of our business.

Data Engineers within the DSE team focus on furnishing our colleagues with comprehensive data, enabling informed decisions for delivering engaging content, personalized product interactions, and outstanding customer service. They also play a pivotal role in constructing datasets that enhance our understanding and efficiency in studio productions, platform utilization, and membership growth. The Data Engineering function is fundamental to our success, providing an engaging space for hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and a distinctive culture.

Who You Are:

  • Proficient in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java) and SQL (any variant).
  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science/Engineering).
  • Demonstrates a keen interest in data and technology, with a passion for continuous learning.
  • Excels in problem-solving, embracing ambiguity and creativity.
  • Prior experience through internships, work, or projects in a related field is advantageous.

Additional desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of distributed frameworks (e.g., Spark), data warehouse solutions (e.g., Hive, Iceberg, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills within a team.

Internships at Netflix:

Our internship experience at Netflix is personalized, mirroring the actual work environment. We match interns with projects and groups based on their interests and skill sets, fully integrating them within those groups for the duration of the summer. Internships are paid and last a minimum of 12 weeks, starting in May or June 2024. The location may be either our Los Gatos, CA office or our Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.

Compensation: 

We meticulously consider various factors to determine top-of-market compensation, with a range typically between $40/hour and $110/hour based on total compensation. This range accounts for our unique compensation philosophy, reflecting the distinct culture and environment at Netflix.
