Job Overview and Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders in the Aircraft Health Monitoring team, Aircraft Engineering, and fellow Data Scientists to understand and prioritize predictive maintenance use cases. Conduct cost-benefit analysis to identify high-impact use cases for prioritization.
Work on parsing complex sensor data from aircraft systems like ACARS and QAR to extract relevant information.
Analyze Aircraft Maintenance and Operations data to identify issues with critical A/C systems.
Develop, test, deploy, and monitor complex machine learning algorithms that predict aircraft failures.
Maintain and enhance existing model deployments to ensure ongoing value and relevance.
Mentor junior team members and stay up-to-date with advances in machine learning.
This position is subject to local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and employment visa sponsorships, even on a time-limited basis, will not be considered. The role is with United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, advanced analytics, or optimization.
Deep understanding of data structures, relationships, and efficient transformations.
Familiarity with all aspects of the data ecosystem, including acquisition, engineering, storage, management, analysis, visualization, and model deployment and monitoring.
Strong knowledge of database querying and the ability to write complex queries to extract data.
Fluent skills in Python/PySpark.
Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, feature engineering, and testing.
Ability to propose novel modeling approaches based on the problem being solved.
Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Successful completion of the interview required to meet job qualifications.
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
Preferred
Master's degree in a quantitative field.
At least 2 years of experience in a project leadership role preferred.
Airline experience or knowledge of airline operations preferred.
Experience with anomaly detection, imbalanced classification, and time series analysis is strongly preferred.
Ability to comprehend new data sources quickly and ask the right questions.
Quick adaptation to new jargon.
