Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Data Scientist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Data Science, you will work with the Analytics and Insights group, providing support to business lines such as Industry and University Partnerships, and Content/Credentials for Product, Marketing, Content, Finance, and Services.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will influence strategies and roadmaps for business units, providing actionable insights. Your responsibilities include forecasting content performance, informing content acquisition, addressing A/B testing setups, defining metrics, building dashboards, causal inference and ML modeling, and supporting business event tracking.
The ideal candidate is a creative and collaborative Data Scientist capable of proactively driving results and providing guidance on statistical modeling, experimentation, data analysis, and data quality best practices.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy:
- Guide planning, assessment, and execution of content initiatives.
- Identify gaps in content and propose ways to acquire new, targeted content.
- Create and leverage forecasts of content pre and post-launch.
- Define KPIs and create reports for diverse tests, product improvements, and content releases.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide technical feedback to guide other Data Scientists throughout project development.
- Optimize analytical models, review code, create dashboards, and conduct experimentation.
- Examine and prioritize projects, offering insightful feedback to leadership.
Learner Success:
- Analyze the connection between consumer-focused business and learner pathways to optimize systems for learner success.
- Collaborate with data engineering and operations teams to ensure the right content at the right time for learners.
Prospect Behavior Analysis:
- Analyze prospect behavior to identify content acquisition and optimization opportunities.
- Assist content, marketing, and product managers in developing and measuring growth initiatives.
Experimentation and Measurement:
- Proactively identify gaps in content availability and recommend targeted content acquisition or improvement.
- Define and develop KPIs, create reports, and advise on experimentation and measurement plans for growth initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Background in applied math, computer science, statistics, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of experience using data to advise product or business teams.
- 2+ years of experience applying statistical inference techniques to business questions.
- Excellent business intuition, cross-functional communication, and project management.
- Strong applied statistics and data visualization skills.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python), one statistical software package (e.g., R, NumPy/SciPy/Pandas), and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in EdTech or Content Subscription business.
- Experience partnering with SaaS sales and/or marketing organizations.
- Experience working with Salesforce and/or Marketo data.
- Familiarity with Airflow, Databricks, and/or Looker.
- Experience with Amplitude.
