Overview
As a Software Engineer-1, you will play a crucial role in supporting applications software through the entire software development lifecycle. This includes programming, analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions. In addition to ensuring adherence to MasterCard standards, processes, and best practices, you will contribute to the research of alternative technical solutions in response to evolving business needs.
Role
Programming and Development
- Responsible for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and support of systems application software, ensuring alignment with MasterCard standards, processes, and best practices.
- Develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts within predefined time and budget constraints.
Technical Solutions Research
- Research, create, and evaluate technical solution alternatives to address current and upcoming business needs, exploring the latest technologies and frameworks.
- Conduct feasibility studies, logic designs, detailed systems flowcharting, and analysis of input-output flow, along with cost and time analysis.
Collaboration and Project Management
- Work with the project team to meet scheduled due dates, identifying emerging issues and recommending solutions for problems.
- Independently perform assigned tasks, engaging in production incident management and participating in on-call pager support rotation.
Documentation and Quality Assurance
- Document software programs according to Software Development Best Practices.
- Follow MasterCard Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
Team Collaboration and Improvement
- Assist Senior Team members in modifying documentation templates based on project and technology requirements.
- Contribute ideas to enhance existing standards, actively seeking opportunities to improve process efficiency.
Metrics and Reporting
- Support the collection and reporting of project and software metrics.
Education and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge / Experience:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies.
- Must demonstrate MC Core Competencies.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in the software engineering field.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be high-energy, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to function under pressure in an independent environment.
- Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-motivation, with a willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities.
