Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Operations Research, or possesses equivalent practical experience.
- Has a minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis or a data science environment.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, R, Julia, and database languages such as SQL.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Holds a Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Operations Research.
- Has 2 years of experience within the Payments industry, specializing in risk or fraud management.
- Experienced in software development using programming languages like Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and/or data-focused programming.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Knowledgeable in statistical analysis and Machine Learning libraries like R, Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Generative AI.
- Capable of generating actionable insights to drive business impact.

The Trust & Safety team at Google is dedicated to tackling the most significant challenges to the safety and integrity of Google products. Utilizing technical expertise, problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication, team members protect users and partners from abuse across various Google products, including Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. As a member of this team, you are a strategic thinker with a passion for upholding integrity and safety. You collaborate globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to swiftly identify and address abuse and fraud cases, ensuring the highest levels of user safety and trust.
In this role, your primary responsibility is to prevent fraud and abuse to maintain a secure payments environment for Google users. You will analyze complex problems, innovate solutions, and collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure new features and products offer a safe user experience.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold user trust and safety by managing and mitigating payment fraud and abuse across Google products and services. Investigate incidents of fraud and abuse, identify patterns, and develop risk management solutions.
- Conduct statistical analysis using payments and risk data warehouses. Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to enhance tools, develop signals, and improve system functionality, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Assess the risk and vulnerability of products and features, and implement fraud and abuse mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally, including engineers, product managers, and internal and external stakeholders, to launch risk mitigation solutions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule to manage escalations that may occur outside standard working hours, including weekends and holidays.
