Profile Overview:
- The Data Analyst role is part of General Mills’ Sales Strategy & Intelligence team, which supports global sales teams in achieving their sales targets by providing analytical support and business insights. This position primarily serves the US market, offering data analysis services that help sales teams focus on core activities such as driving sales volume, optimizing merchandising plans, and improving customer engagement.
- The role includes a variety of responsibilities such as generating trade reconciliation reports, performing basic analysis, and providing turn-key reporting solutions. Over time, the data analyst will be expected to take on more complex tasks, such as creating Excel templates, analyzing sales and trade data, and developing insights that contribute to strategic decision-making.
- The position requires strong technical skills, particularly in tools like MS Excel, Tableau, SQL, and various proprietary tools used in sales strategy analysis. Additionally, the role involves cross-functional collaboration, where the data analyst works closely with sales teams, business analysts, and consultants to create valuable reports and presentations that inform strategic business decisions.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- Full-time graduation from an accredited university (mandatory).
- Preferred major areas of study include Business Management, Analytics, Statistics, Marketing, or Retail.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks accurately in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement, with technical agility and the ability to quickly learn new tools and software.
- Multitasking ability, including proficiency with various reporting tools and data analysis platforms such as Tableau, SQL, Nielsen, JDA, and Apollo.
- Experience working with market data analysis tools like ACNielsen and IRI is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in reporting, preferably within sales or market data analysis.
- Previous experience working with point-of-sale data and trade reports will be beneficial.

Standard Reporting (60% of time):
- Generate monthly reports and presentations, ensuring timely and high-quality output.
- Develop a deep understanding of business and trade knowledge to create effective and valuable reports.
- Provide turnkey reporting solutions to optimize decision-making processes.

Adhoc Requests and Custom Reports (20% of time):
- Build custom templates with dynamic dashboards and visuals tailored to specific business requirements.
- Collaborate with peers to innovate and improve the quality of reporting by integrating value-added insights.
- Own end-to-end development and execution of tools, reports, and presentations.
Technical Expertise (20% of time):
- Master and apply tools like MS Excel, Tableau, SQL, Nielsen, and others to streamline data mining, harmonization, and auditing.
- Build efficient auditing systems to ensure the accuracy of all reporting activities.
- Participate in continuous training to stay updated with the latest tools and technology.
Continuous Improvement and Stakeholder Management (10% of time):
- Focus on continuous improvement in processes and project management.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver high-impact solutions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy through detailed comprehension of requests and rigorous checks.
