Profile Overview:
- The Associate Data Science Analyst role focuses on utilizing data science techniques to analyze, interpret, and provide actionable insights. Working closely with senior data analysts and data scientists, the candidate will support various data-driven initiatives within the cardiovascular medicine department.
- The position involves applying analytical skills to identify patterns, create visualizations, and extract meaningful insights from structured and unstructured datasets. The role also requires hands-on technical skills, including querying databases, modifying scripts, and applying statistical methods.
- As an entry-level position, the candidate will contribute to ongoing projects under the mentorship of senior team members. Responsibilities range from supporting business-critical analytics to presenting findings in ways that are accessible to stakeholders.
- The role emphasizes learning and growth, providing opportunities to collaborate with subject matter experts, develop predictive models, and stay updated on healthcare trends. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge in Python, SQL, and AI applications, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Insight Generation:
- Apply fundamental data analysis techniques to gather, process, and interpret data from a variety of sources.
- Assist in identifying patterns, trends, and correlations within datasets to solve business problems.
- Support senior analysts in descriptive analytics, data mining, and statistical modeling.
Technical Support & Data Engineering:
- Write and modify scripts to facilitate data extraction, transformation, and analysis processes.
- Work with relational databases and data query tools to manage and retrieve datasets.
- Use programming skills in Python, SQL, and relevant libraries (e.g., pandas) to conduct analysis.
Visualization & Reporting:
- Design and create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to present findings clearly.
- Contribute to making complex datasets accessible and understandable for stakeholders.
- Provide actionable insights by interpreting results and highlighting key observations.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work under close supervision of senior team members to complete project-specific tasks.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand business problems and data requirements.
- Effectively communicate results and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Learning & Development:
- Stay current with emerging trends in healthcare analytics, data science methods, and enterprise changes.
- Develop a deeper understanding of data science techniques such as machine learning and predictive analytics.
- Continuously improve time management, problem-solving, and technical skills to enhance job performance.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in any analytical or quantitative discipline such as:
- Data Science
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Physics
- Health Science
- Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies, analytical techniques, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Basic understanding of statistical tools, data modeling, and machine learning concepts.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with:
- Python programming language
- SQL for data extraction and management
- Python libraries such as pandas for data manipulation
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

Additional Info:
Work Schedule:
- Full-Time: 80 hours per pay period
- Monday through Friday, regular daytime hours
Compensation:
- Annual salary range: $74,859 to $112,195, based on education, experience, and internal equity.
- This position is eligible for Mayo Clinic’s competitive benefits package.
