Profile Overview:
The Data Scientist I role primarily involves working in the analytics domain, supporting EPHD® Analysts in various analytical tasks. Responsibilities will expand based on demonstrated skills, experience, and confidence in handling data-driven projects.
The candidate will collaborate with the data rationalization team and other data scientists across different regions (United States, AMS, and India) to develop an in-depth understanding of Fluor’s EPC Model.
This role includes handling diverse tasks such as data preparation, extraction, validation, cleansing, problem identification, reference class development, testing, smart report visualization, and descriptive analytics.
As the candidate progresses in expertise, responsibilities may extend to predictive modeling, scenario simulations, IT system integrations, and cross-team collaboration.
The position involves working closely with information technology teams, data support specialists, project groups, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and usability of analytics insights.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive informed decision-making within Fluor’s engineering, procurement, and construction sectors.
The role is suitable for entry-level professionals with a passion for data science, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, with coursework in data science, analytics, or machine learning.
Exposure to projects and internships in data analytics, with a foundational understanding of predictive modeling and statistical machine learning techniques.
A strong academic background with a high GPA from a well-ranked university.
Industry experience or internships involving real-world applications of statistical, mathematical, or predictive modeling concepts.
Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, and JSON. Familiarity with Shiny (Posit), Plotly, and version control systems (GIT, TFS, DevOps) is highly desirable.
Knowledge of database systems, including SQL, and experience with other database technologies such as MongoDB is a plus.
Flexibility to support teams across multiple time zones, including Asia, Europe, and the United States, and willingness to work early or off-hour shifts when required.
Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail, with a willingness to continuously learn and adapt.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enhance R/Python and SQL scripts for data extraction, transformation, and cleaning.
Support data preparation and visualization tasks using R, Python, Java, and Fluor’s proprietary tools.
Integrate datasets, develop database queries, and perform statistical analyses to create data-driven insights.
Collaborate with functional experts to conduct exploratory data analysis and diagnose execution issues in large-scale capital projects.
Design, develop, and test analytics charts and visualization tools for operational and predictive decision-making.
Write JSON objects, JavaScript code, and maintain version control using Git.
Work on real-time data manipulation and chart development, contributing to analytical insights for project teams.
Assist in quality assurance testing for analytics developments and IT integrations.
Participate in peer reviews and contribute to maintaining high-quality data science standards within Fluor’s analytics teams.

Salary Range:
$68,000 to $118,000 per year.
The final salary is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, location, and market conditions.
