Profile Overview:

  • As a Data Analyst at Sony Corporation of America, you will be part of a centralized analytics team supporting multiple entertainment verticals such as music, gaming, electronics, television, and film.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience using SQL for querying and data manipulation.

  • A minimum of one year in a data analytics or business analytics role is required.

  • Ability to navigate and analyze large, complex datasets with a keen eye for accuracy.

  • Deep understanding of the data analysis lifecycle—from extraction to visualization and presentation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work cross-functionally with technical, analytical, and business teams.

  • Proficient in creating engaging presentations and reports that communicate complex information in an accessible manner.

  • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau or Domo.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify inconsistencies in data and maintain data integrity.

  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work autonomously and handle ambiguity.

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field).

  • Data Exploration & Design

    • Assist in designing analytical frameworks for solving business problems across Sony’s diverse entertainment verticals.

    • Understand data structures to support the design and implementation of customized analysis approaches.

    • Analyze historical and real-time data to identify trends and make recommendations.

  • Visualization & Reporting

    • Build visually compelling dashboards, charts, and graphs using tools like Tableau or Domo.

    • Simplify complex data findings into digestible visuals for stakeholders.

    • Develop reports tailored to the needs of different departments within the company.

  • Performance Monitoring

    • Track and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to measure the impact of initiatives.

    • Conduct root cause analyses to support strategic planning.

    • Share real-time alerts or performance summaries when deviations or opportunities are found.

  • Decision Support

    • Provide actionable insights that influence operational and strategic decisions across Sony’s product and content offerings.

    • Help stakeholders understand the implications of findings and how they can act upon them.

    • Offer recommendations grounded in data to improve existing workflows or strategies.

  • Efficiency & Improvement

    • Identify ways to streamline existing data processes and analytics workflows.

    • Support automation of routine reports and dashboards.

    • Recommend new tools or methodologies to enhance team productivity.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders from music, film, gaming, electronics, and corporate functions.

    • Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to ensure robust data pipelines.

    • Act as a liaison between analytics and business teams to translate insights into action.

    • Ensure data cleanliness and integrity before conducting analysis.

    • Implement validation checks to detect discrepancies and anomalies.
